Steele County Courthouse

Innovative Masonry Restoration LLC completed a full-scope exterior restoration of the historic Steele County Courthouse in Owatonna, Minnesota, addressing deteriorated masonry systems across the building envelope. Scope of work included repointing of exterior wall areas per specification, along with replacement of standard and curved brick, the latter concentrated on the structure’s turrets, matched to existing size, color, and texture to maintain historic fabric integrity. The project also included frame-to-masonry caulking replacement to restore envelope performance at window and door interfaces, along with epoxy injection and consultation at crack locations to address structural deficiencies and prevent further moisture infiltration. The result: a restored building envelope with improved weather resistance and long-term masonry durability, executed to match original construction detailing.
